Amazon
Amazon restocks are fast and heavily automated on the buying side too — you may only have seconds to get an item into your cart, and the listing itself can change offers while it's live.
Quick reference
- Quantity: Amazon usually doesn't set one fixed TCG-wide limit — buy what you're comfortable with while the offer holds.
- Pattern: restocks are random, not scheduled, so speed matters more here than almost anywhere else SnagTabs tracks.
- Main risk: the Buy Box switching to a higher-priced third-party offer while you're mid-checkout.
A two-step approach that works well
Since a single alert can land right as inventory is still settling, treat the first sign of movement and a confirmed restock as two separate moments:
- On the first signal, open the listing and add it to your cart immediately.
- Shortly after, open your cart and check out — this second pass often catches a cleaner checkout window than trying to do everything in one motion.
- Before paying, double check the exact product, condition, seller, quantity, and price — none of that is guaranteed to be the same as when you first added it.
Amazon's Add to Cart button always follows whatever offer currently holds the Buy Box — that can change while the listing stays open in your tab. Check Sold by and Ships from separately, prefer a new item sold directly by Amazon when available, and avoid used/like-new/unclear-condition listings for sealed product. TCG product on Amazon is frequently priced above MSRP — decide your ceiling before you check out, not after.
Preorder price protection
Some listings carry Amazon's own pre-order price guarantee — on an eligible listing, Amazon charges the lowest price it offered between your order and the end of release day, applied automatically. Look for it on the product page or order summary; it doesn't apply to every preorder or every marketplace seller.
What common issues mean
- Item disappears from your cart — that inventory wave sold out before you finished checkout. Wait for the next signal rather than retrying the same cart.
- Add to Cart fails outright — traffic or automated buyers reached the offer first. Keep the listing ready for the next restock.
- Price jumps suddenly — a different seller took over the Buy Box. Stop and re-check the offer before paying.
